Whats it about:
Jack Torrance takes up the job of looking after the Overlook hotel during the winter break. He moves in along with his wife and little son Danny on the closing day. They are all alone in such a huge palace like hotel. Danny is frequently disturbed by hallucinations and his invisible friend Tony. Once the family moves into the hotel, Jack becomes possessed and loses his sanity. He tries to kill his own family. The hotel is indeed haunted. Lots of thrills and suspense.

Hits
- Jack Nicholson. What an expressive actor. He terrifies with his portrayal once he is possessed by the evil spirits at the hotel.
- The small kid does a great job too. His "REDRUM" chants are chilling.
- Shelley Duvall as the innocent and helpless wife does fine.
- Awesome eerie BGM adds to the chaotic mood
- The suspense nicely builds up and we get restless to know the actual plot in the end.
Misses
- An unconvincing climax which is open to interpretation. Absorption theory is what Wiki says about the climax photograph.
VERDICT
Riveting thriller with some very disturbing images. Not for the weak hearted.
