Whats it about
A combo of truth and fiction that traces the killing of Jessica by a politician’s son for not serving him drinks, in front of 300 people at a party. Sabrina, Jessica’s sister wages a single handed battle against the system for justice. Initially the killer escapes scot-free thanks to manipulations of all the witnesses by the powerful politician.
Then public awareness is rekindled by an annoyed Meera, a high profile NDTV reporter who takes up this case and performs a series of sting operations to expose the killer in broad day light. Finally justice is served after a great public uprising on the lines of Rang de Basanti.
Hits
- Vidya Balan as Sabrina looks mature yet beautiful. Has done this serious role with a lot of spirit. Her cries resonate through.
- Rani Mukherjee as the foul mouthing high profile journalist goes overboard with her profanities. But, apt casting.
- Good BGM. The placement of the rocking ‘Delhi Delhi’ song is spot on.
- The police inspector role is good. Honest yet practical.
- Myra as the bold Jessica strikes a chord with us. The director has projected her character well.
VERDICT
A movie with noble intentions. To show a true life story of justice being denied and cinematically serving justice is indeed applause worthy.
