The Matrix (1999)

The plot is truly complex and it is not possible to type it out. For a nice detailed plot of The Matrix, check the ever-helping Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix

See the movie again and again and you will realize how complex it is. After seeing the movie and reading the plot, I felt my understanding of the movie is very much incomplete.

The film depicts a future in which reality is actually a simulated reality created by sentient machines to control and subdue the human population, while their bodies' heat and electrical activity are used as an energy source.

Upon learning this from Morpheus, computer programmer "Neo" is drawn into a rebellion against the machines, involving other people who have been freed from the "dream world" and into reality.

On a very basic level, it is the fight between 3 sinister agents and members of the Nebuchadnezzar (Morpheus, Trinity, Neo and co.) The agents led by Agent Smith don't want humans to escape The Matrix while Morpheus, Neo and co. wish to free humans from The Matrix.

Morpheus frees certain humans from The Matrix and he recruits them to his crew. The agents intend to destroy Zion in order to prevent humans from escaping the system.

This movie requires a lot of suspension of belief. The concept is such. It is like the big daddy of mind-benders like Inception. The fight sequences and special effects are trend setters that have been aped in numerous other movies.

VERDICT: Just experience sci-fi in all its grandeur and glory. A true mind-bender by the Wachowski brothers
